DFARS Compliance Update
In mid January, Crescent Manufacturing received a copy of a Northrop Grumman letter issued to one of our distributor customers. The topic was everyone's favorite ... DFARS. The letter was a reminder to Northrop Grumman vendors that the DNADs, were a temporary measure to allow vendors time to acquire DFARS compliant product, and that time was running out.
There was, and still is, much controversy regarding the demise of DFARS. Crescent's take from the first issuance of the DNADS what that this was a temporary situation only. Many felt that it was the beginning of the end. However, this letter reaffirms that this was strictly a temporary solution for the slow delivery of DFARS compliant materials against contracts requiring compliance. We quote a paragraph from Northrop:
During the past year the Department of Defense (DoD) has taken action to provide some relief, with new developments pending. Domestic Non-Availability Determinations (DNADs) and other temporary measures are intended to provide industry an opportunity to get well with the end result of full compliance with the contract requirement. DNADs and other temporary measures are not blanket authority for suppliers to provide NGNN specialty metal from non-domestic or non-qualifying country sources. Additional assistance to obtain complaint material may be found through the Specialty Steel Industry of North America website at : www.SSINA.com.
Crescent's intent here is again to make our customers aware of the inevitable. DFARS is not going away. The time since the DNADs release was supposed to be used to stock your shelves with compliant product. Crescent has a continuous supply of materials now and is able to meet your DFARS requirement same as any other requirement. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact our sales staff.
