COMPLIANCE WITH THE ELV, WEEE & ROHS II DIRECTIVE
OUR UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE MAIN CONCERN IS FOR FOUR HEAVY METALS, CADMIUM, MERCURY, LEAD, AND HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM.
CADMIUM IS THE REQUIRED PLATE ON MANY MILITARY PRINTS. AS WE MANUFACTURE TO THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE PRINTS WE WILL CONTINUE TO FURNISH THESE PARTS WITH CADMIUM PLATE. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR THIS PLATE TO DATE.
CRESCENT CAN ALREADY PROVIDE MERCURY FREE CERTS UPON REQUEST. NO MATERIAL WE PROVIDE CONTAINS ANY MERCURY.
LEAD IS PRESENT IN THE ALLOY 260 BRASS MATERIAL THAT WE NEED TO MANUFACTURE FROM. THIS IS ONLY A TRACE AMOUNT AND IS WELL BELOW THE U.S. LIMITS FOR LEAD. OUR MATERIAL CERTS INDICATE A READING OF <.01 LEAD. THE DIRECTIVE ALLOWS UP TO 4% BY WEIGHT.
HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM IS ALSO NOT AN ISSUE. EFFECTIVE 7-1-05 OUR PLATERS HAVE ALL CONVERTED TO BE HEXAVALENT FREE.
STAINLESS STEELS, ALLOY STEELS, AND MILD CARBON STEEL DO NOT CONTAIN ANY OF THESE ELEMENTS AND ARE THEREFORE COMPLIANT WITHOUT EXPLANATION.
POLYBROMINATED BIPHENYLS, POLYBROMINATED
ELV Compliance - End of Live Vehicles Directive 2000/53/EC requires that automotive products are free of mercury, cadmium
RoHS II Compliance - Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
WEEE Compliance - The European Waste Electrical and Electronic Directive
COMPLIANCE WITH THE EUROPEAN UNION REACH REGULATION
CRESCENT'S PRODUCT WOULD ONLY FALL UNDER THE "ARTICLES WITH NO INTENDED RELEASE" CATEGORY. THE ONLY SUBSTANCE PRESENTLY USED ON OUR PRODUCT THAT IS ON THE POTENTIAL SUBSTANCES OF VERY HIGH CONCERN, AS OF THIS DATE, IS CADMIUM. CADMIUM IS THE REQUIRED PLATE ON MANY MILITARY PRINTS. AS WE MANUFACTURE TO THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE PRINTS WE WILL CONTINUE TO FURNISH THESE PARTS WITH THE CADMIUM PLATE. THIS BEING SAID THE PARTS ARE STILL COMPLIANT TO THE REACH REQUIREMENT OF LESS THE .1% WEIGHT VS WEIGHT.
REACH Compliance - Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals (R.E.A.C.H)
All Crescent fasteners can be provided with a Certificate of Conformance showing compliance to the following with just a simple request on your PO.
DFARS Compliance - The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and the Berry Amendment are a US Government requirement for a "Preference for domestic specialty metals" requiring that materials used in the manufacturing of fasteners in the U.S. be melted in the U.S. or a qualified country. Just indicate your DFARS requirement when you submit a request
ITAR - International Traffic in Arms Regulations (I.T.A.R.). Crescent Manufacturing is registered with the U.S. Department of State.
CONFLICT MINERALS - CRESCENT HAS SENT LETTERS TO ALL OUR RAW MATERIAL AND PLATING VENDORS REGARDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE CONFLICT MINERALS REQUIREMENTS OF THE DODD-FRANK ACT AND HAS BEEN INFORMED BY ALL THAT NO MATERIAL PROVIDED TO CRESCENT COMES FROM ANY OF THESE COUNTRIES. TIN IS THE ONLY ELEMENT THAT IS IN ANY OF THE MATERIALS AND PLATING PRESENTLY SUPPLIED BY CRESCENT. OUR RAW MATERIAL AND PLATING VENDORS HAVE CONFIRMED COMPLIANCE WITH THE ACT. CRESCENT HAS ALSO ADVISED THESE VENDORS THAT A STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE WILL BE REQUIRED ON ALL CERTS EFFECTIVE 11/1/13.
