February 2008 - DFARS Compliance Update

In mid January, Crescent Manufacturing received a copy of a Northrop Grumman letter issued to one of our distributor customers. The topic was everyone's favorite ... DFARS. The letter was a reminder to Northrop Grumman vendors that the DNADs, were a temporary measure to allow vendors time to acquire DFARS compliant product, and that time was running out.

There was, and still is, much controversy regarding the demise of DFARS. Crescent's take from the first issuance of the DNADS what that this was a temporary situation only. Many felt that it was the beginning of the end. However, this letter reaffirms that this was strictly a temporary solution for the slow delivery of DFARS compliant materials against contracts requiring compliance. We quote a paragraph from Northrop:

During the past year the Department of Defense (DoD) has taken action to provide some relief, with new developments pending. Domestic Non-Availability Determinations (DNADs) and other temporary measures are intended to provide industry an opportunity to get well with the end result of full compliance with the contract requirement. DNADs and other temporary measures are not blanket authority for suppliers to provide NGNN specialty metal from non-domestic or non-qualifying country sources. Additional assistance to obtain complaint material may be found through the Specialty Steel Industry of North America website at : www.SSINA.com.

Crescent's intent here is again to make our customers aware of the inevitable. DFARS is not going away. The time since the DNADs release was supposed to be used to stock your shelves with compliant product. Crescent has a continuous supply of materials now and is able to meet your DFARS requirement same as any other requirement. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact our sales staff.

January 2007 - ITAR

Oh how our country loves acronyms. I.T.A.R., International Traffic in Arms Regulations. Many of our customers have been asking lately if Crescent Manufacturing is ITAR. The answer is YES.

As of November 2007 Crescent is officially ITAR registered with the United States Department of State, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, Office of Defense rade Controls Compliance, Compliance & Registraion Division. (That should just about cover it.)

What this does is assure you that Crescent has procedures in place to maintain the integrity of US specialty tecnical data related to defense articles. ITAR is designed for the protection of custom information for specially designed parts. Standard parts, even those sold under Military numbers that are accessible by public purchase, are not subject to these regulations. Again, it is for the protection of Custom Designed Parts, with regards to exporting.

If you require a statement of certification for your files, please let us know, we will be more than happy to comply.

Spring 2007 - Crescent Manufacturing is DFARS Compliant

Crescent has continued it's effort to obtain a continuous flow of DFARS compliant material. We are happy to say, we have met that goal with regards to 302ss, 8740steel, and 4037steel. The other Stainless materials are obtainable, but at this time must be purchased on as needed basis due to the present lower demand.

Please check with our sales staff for deliveries on these items. We can now honor any pricing on stock materials as per our normal policy of 30 days and quoted deliveries are the same as any non-DFARS parts.

Crescent wishes to say THANK-YOU to all of our customers that have hung in there during the scramble we all went through to meet this DFARS compliance requirement.
